MAXWELL MACLAURIN LAUNCHES HOME REPORT SERVICE
December 2008

Law firm Maxwell MacLaurin today welcomed the launch of Home Reports, saying that they will help kick-start the property market.

Senior solicitor Lorna Brown said that although some sellers may initially be reluctant to pay the extra cost of obtaining a report, in the long term it will prove good news for the property market.

She said: “Whilst sellers will be required to meet the cost of Home Reports their introduction will inevitably boost purchaser confidence and encourage first time buyers into the market. In turn, this will benefit sellers as first time buyers are not dependent upon a sale and can proceed to conclude missives without delay.”

Maxwell MacLaurin has launched a one-stop service to produce the reports which are now obligatory for anyone who wants to sell their home.

Under the new legislation, vendors must provide a Home Report as part of the marketing process.

The Estate Agency Advisory Team at Maxwell McLaurin will handle every aspect of the report from instructing the Single Survey and Energy Efficiency Report to completing the Property Questionnaire, allowing purchasers to concentrate on other aspects of the move.

The Home Report will be available for download, together with the property schedule on both the Maxwell MacLaurin website and that of the GSPC/ESPC. A record of interested parties who download the Report will be retained and the expressed interest followed up by the Estate Agency Advisory Team who will report to the buyer directly.
